gTLDs

Definition

gTDLS are top-level domains that are not country-specific. While a website uses a domain relevant to its purpose, for example .com is for a commercial business and .org is for an organization, gTLDs are available to anyone.

Application

Choosing the right top-level domain for your site depends on the purpose of your company or organization. In general, however, if .com is available for your brand or company name, that's probably the best choice. For example, ".com", ".net", ".co", ".info", ".org" are generic top-level domains, they are not limited to any geographic or country designation, anyone on the Internet anywhere in the world can register them.
